Role of FOSS in developing countries
Published 13 May 2007 by Alberto Escudero-Pascual
During the 10th and 11th of May, the 1st University Competition of Free Software took place in Seville (Spain). IT +46 was part of the evaluation committee and gave a presentation about the role of FOSS in developing regions. The talk focused on the major challenges in bringing open development models to organizations in Africa. Rather than focusing on the benefits of free software as pure code, the presentation addressed how open development enables more dynamic education models that support innovation and knowledge transfer.
